Jesus Christ you people are %$#&ing mean. I love it when people are elitist enough to make observations about the unwashed "masses." The kid just wants to be reassured that his attempt at interrupting was successful. How in the hell does that "dumb down" interrupts or make them any easier to pull off. If I gave someone a cookie for counting to 100 (would probably lower that bar to 50 in generik's case), does that make counting to 100 easier? Of course not. He's making a simple, reasonable request that would be simple to implement and would be beneficial for everyone while hurting no one, and you people jump all over him with your elitist "learn2play" nonsense. Give it a rest.

I like the new bars as well, it gives a much better insight into both players in your team (nice for the monks) and the opponent.

Lol... I'd love to see that happen.
Elementalist casting Lightning Orb... OWNED!
But yeah. I'm loving this enemy skill bar thing. Interrupting before was nigh impossible when the skill icon didn't show up until after the spell was cast half the time (yes, that kept happening to me). Now, not only does the icon pop up as the casting is taking place, I also know how much time I have to react.
And as mentioned, it does finally give some credit to the mesmers. I also love the new damage floaters (nice to know empathy is actually working...) and the energy floaters (lets me know when I'm wasting my energy denial spells).
Hm... I wonder what would happen if I were to have my skill bar laden with interrupts in random arena? Just a random thought... might not work too well, but it'd be funny to sit on a necro or ele that way...

What's the matter? Threatened by the fact that things are more user friendly and that a newbie might actually beat you? If you were really that good, you'd have no problem beating newbies ...

dude that is the greatest idea of all time. they should implement a ut anouncer that both teams can hear, and when something like a skill gets interupted or someone dies he can yell out random things like "first blood"
man that would be awesome.

I'm modifying my rationale for this request based upon one other issue -- lag. Many times when I've hit interrupt, the casting bar of the opponent still increases (and yes, they arn't using matra of resolve, etc.), it just happens to be a problem with lag. In fact, the casting animation finishes, as if it completed -- with no sign of an interrupt -- yet, in this case, I know it worked since it was Power Drain and I've got 25 energy sitting in my mana pool. A more direct, and reliable way to know if a spell was successfully interrupted (for non-obvious ones like Energy Leak) would be nice.

Umm power leak takes away energy right? Then there is a purple number saying that you have taken away X energy from them above their heads. If you did not interupt it there is no number.

If you have your volume up, don't you hear the telltale "twerp" that indicates that you've interrupted it? I know this is the case for the warrior-based interrupts.

As I stated earlier in this thread; I'm looking at their skill bar -- not above their head; and I have my volume off so I can at least be somewhat responsive to my wife. I would like a very clear indicator on the skill bar when an opponent's skill is in fact interrupted. A red flash or something.

I was wondering about this myself. There have to many for me to count that I have interupted someone/thing only to have the bar not show this. I really like the new bar but I think it needs a few tweaks to make it more efficient.

I agree. I think the casting bar was a big waste, don't know why that was on the top priority list. Now all I see is rangers with the same skill set over and over. Mantra of Resolve = H4X0R!!1 (I love how whenever someone makes fun of other people they use 1337 language lol)

I like the bar, it give you seconds to prepare and interrupt someone (if you have the skills to interrupt) but there some tweak that needed to be done. Sometime i find myself looking up to the bar with enemies health bar and just keep looking at it till a skill is being used than i'll interrupt it.

I've noticed this also on my Ranger interruptor. Particularly, I've interrupted Maelstrom with Distracting Shot, and could clearly see that no Maelstrom actually went off. However, despite the fact that I very clearly interrupted it (well before the half-way point of the cast) the skill bar continued to progress, fill, and finish off as though the spell had completed.
Here's one more agreement that the bar needs to be tweaked so as to be more consistently accurate.

Correct, the new enemy skill bar (although very nice-- my kudos to ANet too!) has at least a couple bugs associated with it.
1. An interrupted skill flashes white in exactly the same way as a completed skill. When the skill is interrupted near the end, it's nearly impossible to judge the outcome.
2. The bar for an interrupted skill sometimes (I'd estimate 1/4 of the time... more often for certain actions like disrupting chop) goes all the way to the right anyway.
Even if you have the sound turned on, there may be other interrupts or cast cancels going on around you, and it's difficult to tell yours apart from the others. Remember that when a mob dies, all pending skills targeting that mob yield an interrupt click.
I completely agree with the OP that it'd be nice to have clear indications of the success/failure of interrupt attempts, ones that you can observe while multi-tasking (i.e., doing something besides staring at the enemy casting bar).

im telling you if this voiceover yelled out OWNED! each time an interupt was scored, it would be godly.
in interupt teams all you would hear is OWNED OWNED OWNED
